Its all over....

Today thousands of people witnessed the Tennis legend Roger Federer shed tears of joy over his first French Open Grand Slam win ever.
The world tennis number two was on a quest to level up with Pete Sampras' record of fourteen Grand Slam titles, and thank God his dream just came true.
Federer had never been successful at the French till today, and he did it in style...
The three straight set defeat was handed to Robin Soderling, the man who sent the world number one, Raphael Nadal packing in the fourth round of the tournament. That was ofcourse an absolute shock not only to everyone who has seen Nadal in action on clay, but to the world number one himself.

The Feds Express definitely deserved the big win. He really worked hard for it. It must have sucked losing three consecutive finals to Rafa. I guess no more sleepless nights for the Swiss from now on...he finally achieved the Slam he's always craved for.
Everybody who watched the match couldn't help but smile when the teary Feds got his most wanted trophy. But this time round, his tears were of joy.

Svetlana Kuznetsova, the world number seven defeated fellow Russian, Dinara Safina in the ladies final, to get her maiden French Open Grand Slam title. I must say the match was rather boring for it only took Kuznetsova less than two hours to put the stubborn Safina in her place.

It was an incredible fourteen days of great tennis.
See you all at Wimbledon in three weeks!

Serena ruined my mood.

I was hoping Serena Williams was gonna make it all the way.....
I am so HURTING!
With almost all the best players out of the tournament, believe me, the ladies final is gonna be one ...aaaaargh...boring, amateurish match any idiot has ever seen!

Sharapova outplayed!

I'm not really Maria Sharapova's biggest fan, but today I almost shed a tear when I saw her being outwitted on court.
The tennis heart-throb had been playing impressive tennis but this afternoon, she just could not go past that Slovak chic, Dominika Culbukova. I thought I was having a beautiful nightmare when the first set ended in less than half an hour, with an egg symbol for Maria.
I really can't write much about the match for am still in shock......
A 6-0, 6-2 loss for Sharapova is just unbelievably heart-numbing...

Catch Serena Williams Vs Svetlana Kutzinetsova in action tommorrow noon. That should be interesting!

Serious casualties in week one of the French.

For all tennis junkies out there, I believe you can agree with me that the French Open has never tasted more sugary.
We've already seen more than a couple of top ten players, both in men's and women's side being knocked out of the Slam by amateurs.
Venus Williams got a serious whack that sent her reeling out of the Slam in the third round. It was really a shock for she was booted off in two sets, with an embarrasing "egg" symbol in the first set. In other words, she didn't score anything in the first set.
Novak Djokovic also was toppled in three straight sets. I'm not so sure what is wrong with the Serbian hunkie these days, he is not playing as well as he used to........ And ofcourse as I had predicted, Anna Ivanovic failed to defend the title. It makes you wonder if she really deserved the title after all.
The hugest, and probably the most electrifying shock came from the men's ace, Raphael Nadal, who was given the sorest slap in the backside. I only saw the highlights of the match, but it still feels like am dreaming. The King of clay out in the fourth round? How in hell did that happen?

Now that both defending champions are out, the tournament gets even more fierce.
Who are the two best players going to be?
The world female number one, Dinara Safina seems to be sliding through the Slam magnificently. She hasn't dropped a set since first round. But has she generated enough bravado to scoop a Grand Slam title? I so much doubt that.
The tennis beauty, Maria Sharapova, has also been playing beatifully, though I ain't so sure she can deliver the best.
The mighty Serena is still in as well. Will she be able to stop tongues from wagging about her dramatic episodes on court, and win it for the second time?
With Nadal out of the way, is it Roger Federers chance to get that one Slam that has eluded him?Will he be able to level Pete Sampras' record of 14 Grand Slams this time around?
Well, I wish I could fastforward the days to get to saturday...............am seriously sick and giddy with anticipation.

In chains...

First and foremost, I got the baddest cold. Secondly, tonnes of work are cruelly staring in my face as if to remind me of HELL.
Thirdly, tennis balls and racquets are following me around like little tails.

I should be at home, cozy in bed, seeing Venus Williams through. But am stuck where I am. Rooted to this stupid chair, staring at this stupid screen, seeing nothing but tennis balls.
I'm trying to put more power to the cough....exaggerating it a bit, so they can feel sorry for me and let me go home.
But as usual, I know it won't work. They know French Open Tennis is on....
The sick card lost its value sometime back.
AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

The tennis beauty queen is still......

Today, Maria Sharapova reminded the world of what a magnificent tennis champion she still is by beating fellow Russian, Nadia Petrova, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6.
The former world number one delivered some master class strokes after being absent from the court for almost a year due to shoulder injury.
It was sensational!

While the tennis beauty queen made it to the third round, the men's hunkie, Marat Safin was toppled by French Josselin Ouanna in five tiring sets. I must say am quite disappointed for I so love Safin.
The Brits brat also made it through to the third round winning in four sets.

And the fun continues!

Serena survives first casualty...

The women's world tennis number 2, Serena Williams, almost got keel-hauled in the first round of The French Open Tennis Grand Slam.

Serena who is on her quest to win the 11th Grand Slam title, was given what I call a sweaty-test of a first round. Her opponent Klara Zakopalova, from Czech Rebublic made sure the former Roland Garros Champion sweated sufficiently for her bucks.

While Klara hit one heart-piercing winner after another, Serena was busy messing up her first serves. The Czech chic played splendidly through out. She really had nothing to lose, seriously....as my four year old always says, "when you got nutin, you got nutin to lose."

The younger Williams wasted four match points in the second set, and another five in the deciding set. I was all that time seething with great anger. Even her mother and sister Venus, who were watching the match were not at all amused by Serena's numerous unforced errors and double faults.

But as all champions do, Serena managed to turn things around and won the match...ofcourse whilst drenching in frustration and sweat!

It was one extraordinary match, in favour of the American, 6-3, 7-6, 6-4.

Venus, the older sister got through yesterday, winning in three sets as well.

Maria Sharapova, Jelena Jankovic, Anna Ivanovic, Dinara Safina and Svetlana Kutszinetsova all made it to the second round.

In men's, the reigning champion, Rafa won in three sets against Brazillian, Marcos Daniel. The Feds Express also cruised through, mauling Spaniard, Alberto Martin in three straight sets.

And so the clay battle continues!
